A 9-month cohort for the leaders translating strategy into action through other people — with a clear baseline, a structured path through six leadership domains, and a peer community that makes growth stick.
I’ve spent years coaching and facilitating leadership development across the nonprofit sector. I’ve worked with 100s of leaders, and what I kept hearing was the same thing:
“The training I get is either too basic or too executive. Nothing fits the job I actually do.”
You’re the connective tissue of your organization: not the CEO, not frontline, but the one turning priorities into real work through other people. You carry more responsibility than authority, and most leadership advice ignores that reality.
Grit may have gotten you this far. But sustainable leadership needs tools, practice, and people who get your seat.
Confidare is a 9-month, assessment-driven cohort that sharpens how you communicate, develop your team, manage performance, lead change, sustain your own resilience, and shape vision — with tools you can use the next week.
You take a 36-question self-assessment across 6 leadership domains. Your results set the starting line — and shape the resources you’ll see throughout the cohort.
One domain per month for six months. Then three months of integration and capstone. The tools you see are matched to your level — so the cohort moves together, but the work meets you where you are.
Pronounced con-fee-DAR-ay, confidare comes from the Latin cōnfīdere — to have confidence in, to rely on, to trust. It’s built from con- (together) and fīdere (to trust), and it’s the root of words like confidence and confidant.
I picked Confidare as the name of this leadership cohort because that’s what I want every leader who does this work to walk away with — not just insights, but real trust in themselves. And the con- in confidare? It means together.
This work is stronger when leaders are building that trust together — challenging, supporting, and sharpening one another.
No more wondering what to work on next. Each month focuses on one domain, in a deliberate sequence, with resources matched to where you actually are in that skill.
Each month delivers leveled resources, scripts, and frameworks you can apply with your team and cross-functional partners — not theory you'll read once and forget.
A capped cohort of 30 leaders working the same material at the same time. You can ask the real questions, in a private community, with people carrying the same kind of weight.
A capstone reassessment at Month 9 shows you exactly how far you've come. Your personalized post-cohort development plan tells you what to focus on next.

I’m Sheila. I’ve spent nearly 30 years in nonprofit and community-driven work — more than a decade of that in executive leadership, including two VP roles where I led statewide programs, managed multimillion-dollar budgets, and oversaw hundreds of staff.
I’ve done this work from the inside. I know what it feels like to sit in your seat — carrying more responsibility than authority, translating strategy into action through people, steady on the outside while things shift underneath you.
Sheila holds an MSW, an MBA, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She is certified in diversity coaching, positive psychology-based coaching, and emergent learning.
As a coach, facilitator, and consultant, I’ve partnered with the Annie E. Casey Foundation, StriveTogether, Lutheran Services in America, Future Farmers of America, and hundreds of individual leaders.
What I kept hearing from the people in the middle was the same thing: “The training I get is either too basic or too executive. Nothing fits the job I actually do.”
They were right. Most leadership programs skip the middle — the seat where your actual work happens. Confidare is what I built to fix that.
My conviction is simple: managers become better leaders when they learn to be steady, clear, and fair — especially when things get complicated. No leadership theater. No theory without follow-through. Just a 9-month cohort built for the job you actually do.

I built the Confidare Leadership Cohort for mid-to-upper nonprofit managers and directors who sit 1–3 levels from the C-suite and are responsible for translating strategy into execution through other people. If you’re leading teams (or leading through influence across teams) and you’re trying to lead more strategically — not just keep everything afloat — this is for you.
Yes — if you’re an established manager or director who’s leading through other people and helping translate strategy into execution. This is for leaders who are navigating complexity, making decisions, and building capacity in others — not for brand-new managers looking for entry-level supervision basics.
About 3.5 hours per month of live time — one 90-minute workshop, one 60-minute Q&A, and one 60-minute peer collaborative session. The rest is practice inside work you’re already doing — not on top of it.
Clarity on your strongest leadership domains and the one area that will make the greatest leverage opportunity right now – A practical development path you can actually follow – Stronger alignment and follow-through across your team and cross-functional partners – Less bottleneck leadership as you build capacity in others – More confidence and skill in performance conversations, change leadership, and strategic decisions – Concrete, measurable growth visible in your Month 9 reassessment
Yes — and it’s a strong move. When 2–3 leaders from the same organization go through Confidare together, they build shared language and reinforce each other’s development back at work.
